It is said that the country of origin is India, and there is a long history that oranges have been eaten in China for over 4000 years. In China, it is customary to decorate the New Year with oranges to wish for happiness and prosperity for the year ahead. Introduced to Europe, the golden apples in Greek mythology are said to be oranges. There are many types of oranges, but Citrus sinensis, also known as sweet orange, is one of the most widely cultivated types of oranges. It has a citrus scent that is slightly weaker and less sweet than other sweet oranges.
